Likelihood MCMC

Shown here is the 2d marginalized posterior and 1d marginalized posteriors of luminosity distance and chirp mass. The distributions build up as independent samples are drawn according to the PTMCMC routine (using GWAT). The red dashed lines indicates the 'true' injected parameters, while the black star (and black dashed lines) tracks the maximum likelihood point. As more independent samples are harvested, the histograms approach the 'true' posterior distribution, and the maximum likelihood point coincides with the injected point (since we are injecting and recovering with the same model, without a noise realization added to the injection).
